International hairstylist Vernon François has brought his passion and creative flair for hairdressing from his hometown of Huddersfield, Northern England to the global stage.
Discovering his ability at just 8 years old, Vernon began working weekends in a salon on Oxford Street at the age of 14, and by 17 he was named Black Beauty Magazine Newcomer of the Year. From there he went on to freelance in Paris, Oslo, Amsterdam and Prague. Vernon also assisted the world renowned Desmond Murray for three years.
Named among the Top 20 Influential Black People Under 40 of 2013, Vernon has over 14 years of salon experience which has allowed him to be a judge for the prestigious L'Oréal Colour Trophy as well as the Black Beauty Hair Awards.
Vernon François is one of the most sought after hair stylists specializing in textured hair, with clients including; Lupita Nyong'o, Uzo Aduba, Kerry Washington, Emeli Sandé, Sarah Jane Crawford, Eve, Lianne La Havas, VV Brown, Clara Amfo, Keyshia Cole, and Naomie Harris. Vernon has also shot American Vogue and Lancôme campaigns with photographers Mert & Marcus, Victor Demarchelier, Alexi Lubomirski & Peter Lindbergh. Vernon has also shot Vanity Fair's Hollywood cover with Annie Leibovitz.
With the Hollywood Reporter naming Vernon's styling of Lupita Nyong'o as #2 in its annual Top 25 Beauty Moments of 2015, he continues his work alongside the Oscar winning actress. Vernon's most recent has been seen on the covers of American Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, ELLE UK, Vanity Fair and Black Beauty, with major spreads in Vanity Fair, Glamour, US Weekly, Allure, Refinery 29, Essence and Paris Match. He has also featured in The Sunday Times and style blogs worldwide.
Despite the international nature of Vernon's work he retains a loyal group of private clients he tends to in a notable salon in Soho, London.
Vernon's personal mission is to empower a generation of people with textured hair, giving them the techniques and practices that help them to maximize the potential of their own hair. This is the driving force behind a powerful project that he will reveal later in 2016.
