Internationally acclaimed hair stylist, Vernon François, has brought his passion and creative flair for hairdressing from his hometown of Huddersfield in northern England, to the global stage. Vernon's personal mission is to empower a generation of people with textured hair, giving them techniques and practices to help maximise the potential of their own hair.

Vernon François discovered his talent and love for working with textured hair aged just eight years old. As part of a big family, Sunday nights in his household were all about "Mum with sleeves rolled up and all of us kids taking it in turns having our hair braided". Although he found this a painful process, to the point whereby he was tasked with doing it himself. Which turned out to be his 'eureka' moment. He taught himself how to braid, and everything that could be braided, was braided. From his grandmother's beaded curtains to the fringing on his mum's living room rug. This developed into a passion, which in turn led him on the path to where he is today. Vernon took on his first job, aged 14, which was a Saturday job at a salon on London's Oxford Street. Early in his career, he assisted the award-winning hair stylist Desmond Murray, which he did for three years before going on to freelance in Paris, Oslo, Amsterdam and Prague.

Vernon François' first industry recognition was in being named 'Newcomer of the Year' at the Black Beauty Hair Awards aged just 17; closely followed by 'Black Hair Junior Stylist of the Year' in 2005. He has judged at the prestigious L'Oréal Colour Trophy and Black Beauty Hair Awards, and in 2013 was ranked one of the 'Top 20 Influential Black People Under 40'. With a list of other credits to his name, another highlight has been Vernon's styling of the Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o at the Cannes Film Festival, which achieved #2 in the Hollywood Reporter's Top 25 Beauty Moments of 2015.

Vernon François is now firmly established as a leading authority on styling and championing the incredible versatility of textured hair. His creations, as seen on the red carpet and celebrity events, make headline news. Clients include Lupita Nyong'o, Uzo Aduba, Kerry Washington, Danai Gurira, Tracy Ellis Ross, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Aluna George, Emeli Sandé, Sarah Jane Crawford, Eve, Lianne La Havas, VV Brown, Clara Amfo, Keyshia Cole and Naomie Harris.

Vernon has styled for many high profile campaigns, including Lancôme; whilst working alongside photographers such as Mert & Marcus, Victor Demarchelier, Alexi Lubomirski, Peter Lindbergh and Annie Leibovitz. His work has featured on magazine covers all over the world: VOGUE, Harpers Bazaar, ELLE UK, Vanity Fair and Black Beauty, with major spreads in Vanity Fair, Glamour, US Weekly, Allure, Refinery 29, Essence and Paris Match; also The Sunday Times and style blogs worldwide.

Despite the international nature of Vernon's work, he continues to serve a loyal private client base in a notable salon in London's Soho. Many of his clients have been with him for well over ten years and some travel from around the world for an appointment.
